Sara’s blog about the researching rural community development in Balaton-felvidék
I am in Sümeg researching rural community development on a Fulbright Fellowship from Washington State, USA. I am looking at factors that help sustain vibrant rural communities. Being part of the Balaton LEADER Éltetõ Felvidékért means that I am learning about the many small communities and businesses in this region, and what helps them thrive. I am also traveling around the region, by bus and train, to experience this part of rural Hungary. My husband, and two children ages 11 and 7 join me on this year-long research trip, my kids are at the public school here in Sumeg and my husband is working remotely.
